Hollywoodbets Durbanville takes centre stage on Wednesday as Cape racing continues to build momentum during the October season, with eight races on the card and plenty of runners looking to make their mark.
The meeting features a mix of maiden races, a Progress Plate, D Stakes and the Lucky Fish Aviator Middle Stakes, giving racing fans plenty to follow throughout the afternoon.
One of the runners attracting attention is Beware, who returns to action in the Race Coast Incentives Powered By Hollywoodbets Progress Plate over 1250m. Trained by Lucinda Woodruff and ridden by Callan Murray, Beware has been off the track for 13 weeks but has reportedly shown good work in preparation for his comeback.
Fox On The Run is another Hollywood Racing runner in the same contest. The James Crawford-trained four-year-old returns after a longer break and will race without blinkers, with the stable expecting him to run competitively as he builds towards later targets in the season.
Later in the afternoon, Voorloopertjie lines up in the Lucky Fish Aviator Middle Stakes over 1600m. The Eric Sands-trained runner impressed when returning from a 33-week break last time out and is expected to be fitter for that effort. He is chasing another strong performance in what looks set to be a competitive race.
The meeting also features several interesting three-year-olds, including Miss Arizona, who finished second over the same course and distance on her previous outing and is among the runners to watch in the second race.
With eight races scheduled and the Durbanville turf set to provide another test for the runners, Wednesday’s meeting offers plenty of intrigue for South African racing fans. From comeback runs to promising youngsters and runners looking to build on recent form, Durbanville has plenty of action to keep an eye on as the Cape racing season gathers pace.
