Racing stays in Gauteng after the weekend’s Victory Moon Stakes meeting was moved to yesterday. After more movement this morning, an eight-race program awaits us at Turffontein.
Race 1 (12:15) – Shesarocket
Shesarocket ran an encouraging debut despite some excuses in the race. The 3-year-old filly is highly rated by the stable and should come on with the experience under her belt now. Gavin Lerena was in fine form yesterday and should keep that up with this filly and open the meeting.
Race 2 (12:50) – Smashing
Smashing is a filly taking on some boys in this contest and looks the right horse to come out on top. She holds some decent form to her name and gets the services of Stryker aboard, who was in superb form on Monday. The track condition of good to soft should also suit her to the ground.
Race 3 (13:25) – The Specialist
After the movement to Turffontein, plenty scratchings followed, making this a four-horse contest. The Specialist is the one tipped to come out on top though and give Striker a potential quick double. He’s odds-on and doesn’t offer much value, but certainly looks worth throwing in a few doubles and trebles.
