The retired defender made these remarks following the Amakhosi’s 2-1 triumph over Marumo Gallants in their opening match of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season last weekend.

After finishing 10th last season and watching other teams compete in the MTN8 during the season’s early weeks, Radebe emphasized the significance of positive results for the Glamour Boys. He stated,

It shows the magnitude of the club’s impact, not just in South Africa, but in Africa. It’s important that they do well. They lift the spirit of the country.

Radebe praised the team’s performance, noting the contributions of new players like Gaston Sirino. “They now realize they’re playing for a big brand that needs to be at the top level,” he added.

He acknowledged the competition from successful teams like Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, stressing that Chiefs must strive to meet these high standards.

“We know how significant that brand is and what it means for the community when the team performs well.”

However, Radebe advised against rushing for trophies, suggesting that Chiefs focus first on stability and consistency. “We can’t expect immediate success in terms of winning trophies; it’s about maintaining stability, consistency, and establishing a proper structure for success before we discuss trophies.”

He expressed optimism about the current leadership under Nasreddine Nabi and the technical team, as well as the young players’ growing confidence. “There’s a new energy at the club, and it’s inspiring the players,” he concluded.
