Another week of racing is upon us with Fairview being the curtain-raiser venue of the week.
Race 1 (12:05) – Ice Cap
Ice Cap has been battling to get out of the maidens with 18 runs to her name without victory. She meets the right field here and after an encouraging third place against males over this course and distance, the Gavin Smith-trained filly should win this contest.
Race 3 (13:15) – Elusive Mata
Another battling maiden is the fancy here in the form of Elusive Mata. Luyolo Mxothwa is back in the saddle after going extremely close in her penultimate run. She’s been quite costly to follow – but I do believe in second chances with this filly. Even if it is for the fourth time.
Race 6 (15:03) – Anuschka’s World
Anuschka’s World takes on some older horses here but looks loaded with enough ability to come out the pack on top. He has a neat draw of barrier gate 1 up the straight and should have enough luck in running to have a clear path to the finish.
Race 7 (15:40) – Arabian Red
One of the better bets on the card come in Race 7 with Arabian Red tipped to return to winning ways. The daughter of Arabian Jazz has been consistent of late, while the drop in trip should suit her to the ground with her frontrunning tactics.
